2,000,000 meals provided in response to COVID-19

Today, we reached a new milestone in our coronavirus response. The Sheridan Story has been working extra hard to keep children fed, providing…

2,000,000
meals since March

In these past four months, we’ve maintained a 400% increase in meals provided and surpassed the number of meals we usually provide in a whole year. This is an incredible feat that would not have been possible without your support. We’ve come together in unimaginable ways and become a source of hope for children and families during very uncertain times. For that, we can’t thank you enough!

But we can’t stop! We need your help to provide another 2,000,000 meals through Fall 2020

With Governor Walz’s announcement on July 30th on the safe learning plan for the 2020-21 school year, many school districts will opt for distance learning or a hybrid approach when the school year begins. As a result, many children will lose the nutritional safety net of a school meal. We can’t let them go hungry at a time when nutrition is incredibly important to their learning and development.

We need to raise $1.8 million to provide another two million meals (or 100,000 meals per week) to children across Minnesota this fall. If we don’t reach this funding goal, we will need to cut the food we provide by 70%.

Your contribution is an important step in preventing that from happening. By responding to this need in our community, your donation is doubled thanks to a $200,000 match from the Otto Bremer Trust.

As we continue reaching new milestones in our coronavirus response, our mission of fighting child hunger remains top of mind. Behind every meal that you help fund, there is a child who does not have to worry about where the next meal will come from.
