Demand for food support fuels urgent need for volunteers

Thousands of Minnesota children receive food from Every Meal for the weekend at over 460 schools. We have seen significant need from these students, with more meals provided so far this school year than 2020 to date, which was during the immediate aftermath of the pandemic. With this high need for food comes an urgent need for volunteers to pack the meal bags.

HOW YOU CAN HELP!

To meet the need for food in the community, over 150,000 meal bags… and counting… need to be assembled at our warehouse in Roseville. All meal bags are assembled by volunteers, but currently only 23% of volunteer shifts are filled for January and February. There are also opportunities in March and April. If you are able, please register as an individual or team to volunteer.

YOUR IMPACT

This need for a surge in volunteers is coming during a time period when many non-profits see a decline in volunteerism – at the beginning of a year following the often-busy holiday season. Additionally, the burden of the pandemic and the omicron variant has suppressed interest. But as the pandemic drags on, Minnesota children are facing empty kitchen cupboards at home. We can’t allow that to happen and we need volunteers from the community to get the meal bags packed.

VOLUNTEER HEALTH & SAFETY

We have many enforced COVID safety precautions in place including a mask requirement, social distancing, hand washing, available vinyl gloves, and more. Read more about what to expect.

Thank you for helping us fight child hunger in 2022!
