The Otto Bremer Trust funds $379,000 worth of meals

The Otto Bremer Trust is generously building upon our unprecedented response!

Our largest funding partner, the Otto Bremer Trust has generously provided $379,000 of emergency funding for our efforts, making it possible for us to prepare and distribute well over the initial goal of 330,000 meals to the community in response to this pandemic.

“The Sheridan Story is stepping up to provide children in our community with healthy meals during the upcoming school shut-down. We are proud to work with Rob and his team to support some of Minnesota’s most vulnerable community members during these challenging times.”

Brian Lipschultz, Co-CEO and Trustee at the Otto Bremer Trust

But we need to keep going!

We are working with over 30 school districts in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin to provide a nutritious source of food directly to children. The districts include 30% of all Minnesota children receiving free or reduced meal support at school, and we anticipate the need to increase significantly as the schedules and resources are upended.

To continue quickly adapting and moving forward through this dynamic situation, we need additional support from the community to ensure children have food for every meal.

We ask that you donate and volunteer to ensure Minnesota children are nourished and safe during this unknown time.

Donate today: EVERY $100 MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR 25 CHILDREN TO RECEIVE MEALS.

Register to volunteer: Volunteers play a critical role in packing the food into bags. We’ve added food packing events for small groups (with proper social distancing) while taking extreme precautions to maintain a sanitary environment before, during and after each event. If you are healthy and able, please join us.

**UPDATE: We are extremely appreciative of our community’s desire to volunteer. Since March, we have continued packing bags at our warehouse with a small group of return volunteers to maintain the health and safety of volunteers and staff. We are continuously evaluating our volunteer events based on the current situation and are starting to open some volunteer events to the public. You can now register for volunteer events in June.**

“This is uncharted territory for all of us, but Minnesota’s and our organization’s strongest asset is our ability to work together to serve the children.”

Rob Williams, Executive Director at The Sheridan Story
