A Hunger-Free Holiday!

I am told over and over by school principles, social workers, and teachers that they have children in their school who don’t look forward to winter break because they don’t know if they will have food in the cupboards at home. This is a reality for thousands and thousands of kids here in our community, kids right down the street.

The Sheridan Story’s focus is to close the food gaps – the times when children are not at school to access meal programs. I am excited to announce a new program to close the Winter Break Food Gap through an amazing new partnership with the John W. Mooty Foundation and the YMCA Twin Cities.

From December 27, 2018 through January 6, 2019, families can stop by the front desk at any YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities branch locations to receive a free TSS bag of food, no questions asked. They do not need to be members of the YMCA.

As we embark on this promising new partnership, we ask for your help in making sure the children in our community have the nutrition they need to learn and grow. Your tax-deductible gift today will help ensure children have access to our meal bags, in school or at the YMCA.

P.S. Did you know that The Sheridan Story doesn’t receive government funding and is 100% community funded by supporters such as yourself*? This fact allows us to be nimble and able to respond to needs and amazing partnerships such as this winter break program. Please donate today to ensure we can continue ensuring kids have the nutrition they need to learn and grow!
*We did receive $1800 from the State of MN to pilot a summer meal program. So, technically, we’re 99.91% community funded.
