63,740 pounds of food to 665 hungry kids

Friends,

In Spring 2013, The Sheridan Story was operating in 2 schools in the Twin Cities. As the 2013-2014 school year approached we began making plans to launch our weekend food program in more area schools. We weren’t sure what response we would see from the community, but we set a goal to add 5 new schools during the school year, which would bring our total to 7 schools.

You blew us away.

Due to your support, several incredible partnerships, a lot of prayers, and significant effort from volunteers and staff, we surpassed our goal of 5 schools. By a lot.

In the 2013-2014 school year, The Sheridan Story’s weekend food program launched in 11 new schools, expanding our network to a total of 13 schools throughout the Twin Cities. Together we distributed 2.5 times more food this school year compared to last: a total of 63,740 pounds of food was provided to 665 kids!

I am amazed at the response we’ve seen. Yet at the same time, the response makes perfect sense. When you learned that there are hungry kids in our community, you took action. Because it’s not acceptable for the kids in our community – our kids – to be hungry.

And if I may be so bold as to speak on behalf of the 665 kids to whom you provided a supply of food each weekend – THANK YOU!

I look forward to your continued partnership next school year as we expand our impact on child hunger.

Sincerely,

Rob Williams
Executive Director
The Sheridan Story

P.S. Next school year, more schools are coming on board and current schools are expanding their programs. We’ll be announcing more as we get closer to September – so stay tuned!
