Bryn Mawr Church Joins the Fight against Child Hunger at Bryn Mawr Elementary

**Update: Bryn Mawr Church has launched a successful and ongoing program at Bryn Mawr Elementary School. Consider donating to join Bryn Mawr Church as they fight child hunger!**

When The Sheridan Story first met with the staff at Bryn Mawr Elementary School in North Minneapolis, we shared how our organization first began. “Students at Sheridan Elementary were hoarding food on Fridays,” we shared, “so they could have something to eat on the weekend.”

The Bryn Mawr School social worker said, “That happens here, too”, and the principal nodded in agreement. Bryn Mawr School strives to build a nurturing learning environment for their students, so they are concerned by the prevalence of food insecurity in the school: 83% of the 500+ students are on free or reduced lunch.

Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church is a small congregation of 100 members located 3 blocks from Bryn Mawr School. After meeting with The Sheridan Story to discuss the problem of food insecurity at the school, Bryn Mawr Church quickly and decisively joined the fight against child hunger.

Bryn Mawr Church will launch a weekend food program at Bryn Mawr School in January 2014, less than two months after first talking with The Sheridan Story!

We’re excited to see these two community neighbors partnering to make a difference in the lives of local kids!
