Finance & Admin team

Every Meal’s Finance & Administration team is the backbone of our operations, supporting staff and processes essential to keeping everything behind the scenes running smoothly and responsibly. The team oversees a wide range of finance functions, including budgeting, accounting, financial reconciliation and reporting, auditing, and document retention, all while ensuring financial records are organized and accurate. Additionally, the team functions as our Human Resources, providing support to staff across the organization from onboarding new team members and managing benefits to maintaining policies. On top of that, they are the main point of contact for organization wide key operational vendors and our whole IT/systems infrastructure. There is no doubt that their careful stewardship allows Every Meal to operate efficiently and with integrity as we work to fight child hunger across Minnesota.

Alvina Kasin:

What do you like most about your role? What I enjoy most about my role is knowing that the work I do behind the scenes helps make a real difference in the lives of children and families in our community. Even though I’m not on the front lines, my responsibilities in payroll, reconciliations, or the daily details are essential to keeping things running smoothly and responsibly. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that what I do contributes to something bigger, which is getting meals to kids who need them.

What is your favorite food tradition?Food plays such a big role in Southeast Asian culture, and as someone who’s Lao, it’s truly at the heart of every family gathering. Anytime there’s an event, everyone brings a dish, and it always turns into a massive feast. I became a total foodie thanks to my family. They all have superior taste buds and serious skills in the kitchen! If you’ve never experienced Lao cuisine, I highly recommend it. It’s bold, sour, spicy, and savory all in one bite.

Karina Garcia-Kornbaum:

What do you like most about your role? I like that my role is both a background, supportive role and I also get to support all employees and all departments when needs arise. It is rewarding to contribute to the Every Meal mission in a way that supports the employees who are on the frontlines of the mission.

What is your favorite food tradition?My favorite food is jibaritos. It is a Puerto Rican inspired sandwich made with flattened, fried green plantains instead of bread. Anytime I get to go home to Chicago, I go out of my way to get one! It perfectly marries my Puerto Rican and Chicago roots.

Nicole Price:
Director of Finance and Administration

What do you like most about your role? Each day looks different. There’s never a dull moment, and everyday brings a new opportunity to learn. I get to support the staff and organization as a whole; ensuring they have the right tools, resources and support needed to execute our mission. A bonus is that I do work that is purposeful, along side folks I enjoy working with.

What is your favorite food tradition? Any sort of “cook out” because it can look different, depending on what the meal and what the season is. Typically, it means being outside and for me, typically with a group of friends/family as well.
