Every Meal at the Minnesota State Fair

Every Meal was proud to participate in the Minnesota State Fair this year as part of The Common Table exhibit inside the Agriculture Horticulture Building. The Fair is one of the largest gatherings of Minnesotans, making it a powerful space to raise awareness about important issues in our state – for us, that’s shedding light on child hunger in Minnesota.

Sharing Our Story Live on Fox 9

In the morning of opening day of the Fair, Every Meal kicked it off in a big way! Our President and Founder, Rob Williams, was interviewed live at the Fox 9 booth. This was an incredible opportunity to raise awareness about Every Meal’s work in providing weekend food support to kids. With more than 300,000 children facing food insecurity across the state, visibility matters. The interview helped demonstrate how this need is in more places than expected – hunger exists in all communities across the state.

An Interactive Way to Learn About Food Insecurity

Every Meal had a table in The Common Table exhibit inside the Agriculture Horticulture Building, where we spent the day connecting with many new people. Fairgoers had the chance to engage in a food insecurity activity that challenged their knowledge on various topics including how food insecurity can impact a child’s life. This helped spark meaningful conversations about the realities families face in putting food on the table.

Visitors could also enter a prize drawing for Twins tickets, giving us even more opportunities to connect with people who may not have been familiar with our work before.

Keep Learning

The Common Table exhibit is part of the Metro Food Justice Network and includes a growing network of individuals and organizations working together to promote local food in Minnesota. It’s become a gathering place for food justice at the Fair, and Every Meal is proud to have been a participant and voice in that this year. Being part of this collaborative space inspired us to continue working towards building healthier, more equitable food systems for all Minnesotans.
