Impact of Tariffs on our Mission

We have been working with global and domestic food sourcing experts to identify how activity at the federal level – specifically tariffs and inflation – will impact Every Meal’s mission. Since we purchase nearly all of the food we provide to kids, we quickly realized that changes in the global food market would cause our food budget to increase by a debilitating 60%; that’s $1,029,907 more for food a year.

Our team went right to work talking with vendors and re-arranging our menus. We’ve made really difficult decisions while working hard to balance nutrition, taste, variety, and cost.

Our new menus are the best we can offer in the current environment, while still meeting our Good Food criteria of being nutritious, delicious, and relevant.

Even still, we are faced with a 17% increase – $291,807 – in food costs for the year. To lock in prices and mitigate the risk of further cost increases, we are taking action now to purchase food.

Thankfully, a generous donor has offered to match the first $125,000 raised as part of this effort.

Every Meal’s Procurement Manager, Patricia Suarez, has found several great opportunity buys, but we need your support to take advantage of those prices right now.
