We’re Scaling Up This Summer

While school is out for summer and our Weekend Meal Program takes a break, Every Meal is not slowing down – this is our season to scale up. The summer is all about getting ready to serve thousands of Minnesota kids with weekend food in the upcoming school year, but this summer we’re going into deep preparation mode like never before.

Here’s what’s happening at Every Meal this summer.

Renovating Our Space

We’re making big moves to expand our reach and impact. As part of our $13.4 million Setting the Table campaign, we purchased our entire 69,000-square-foot building in Roseville and began renovations in the spring. This summer, we’re continuing to transform the space, all to decrease our overall costs and increase our impact in feeding more kids across Minnesota experiencing food insecurity with good food.

Changes big and small:

  • Enhancing the welcome area
  • Revamping the volunteer center
  • Improving accessibility throughout the building, including the addition of a lift to the second floor
  • Adding dock door openers and levelers
  • Repairing floors
  • Replacing windows
  • and more!
Preparing for Fall, Now

We’re already receiving truckloads of food from our food vendors weekly – something we did not have the capacity to do this early in the summer.

South warehouse stocked

This also includes restructuring our warehouse flow to start packing food bags in August and preparing orders for delivery to our partner schools so we can hit the ground running on day one this fall.

Although our main programs don’t run during the summer months, everything we’re doing right now is for the kids we serve during the school year. From renovating our space to preparing the food, every project we touch has these children at the center of it.
